Vance Guitars are constructed with a variety of quality components and             materials. The tone woods are built of master-grade bear claw Sitka            spruce, four-A Hawaiian curly koa, or show-grade curly maple, as well as           many others.

Vance imports some of his tone woods green, cuts it into matching flitches,      and dries it in his shop, to consistent 12% moisture content. The   workshop    where these guitars are built maintains an average 45% relative humidity.

He uses solid, black ebony finger boards and bridges along with custom crafted vintage bone nuts and saddles, buffalo horn or vintage bone pins, and German spruce sound board bracing. Welded, double action truss rods and Schaller tuners are also used in the construction.

The inner bracing of his guitars are hand carved, one piece at a time. Vance incorporates a double radius back and a radius fret board. The necks are mortised and tenoned with a bolt-on application. Access to the truss rod is via the guitars' sound hole.

Vance finishes his guitars with hand sprayed multi-cellulose lacquer finish. He applies numerous light coats of this finish, with a hand polishing procedure at the end, to bring out the multi-dimensional luster of the guitars' wood surfaces.
